This year our Children In Need Ramble is a level circular walk alongside the River Eden, starting and finishing in Temple Sowerby. The walk takes about 1 hour 15 minutes so should be okay for young and old alike, those in between, – and dogs of all ages. We are meeting at approximately 2.00pm in Temple Sowerby. We can park on the road, or around the side of The House Hotel, where we will be returning for refreshments after the walk. We have arranged tea/ coffee and cakes for £5 a head which we can enjoy in the extensive gardens if the weather is fine, or indoors if not. Dogs are welcome. Water bowls for them, soft drinks for children. If you’ve not been before it’s a nice place to socialise over refreshment while resting up. This year our donations will go to “Jigsaw”, who run the children’s hospice in Carlisle. As in previous years donations of £10 per ‘family’ are suggested. If you don’t want to do the ramble please come along and join us for tea at about 3.30pm.
Please do let me know if you are coming so I can tell the hotel how many to expect for tea.

Newbiggin Recreation are organising a ramble this year to support this worthy cause. On Sunday afternoon 15th October we’ll walk along Crowdundle Beck to Acorn Bank café for a rest and refreshments before walking back. We hope many residents, friends and relatives will join us for exercise, lovely scenery and social chat along the way.
Assemble at Newbiggin Reading Room at 1.45pm where we ask that each family make a donation of £10 to Children in Need. All proceeds from this event will be donated and we can raise even more money if you’re willing to get sponsored. To find out more about the Countryfile Ramble click here.
We hope for fine weather, but expect the grass to be long and wet, with mud in some places. Dogs are welcome on a lead, except inside the café. There are no stiles on the route.
In the spirit of Pudsey Bear we invite the young at heart (of any age) to bring their own bear on the ramble. Other soft toys are also welcome.
